Jon Porter, a contractor-divorcé is forced to relive his failed marriage in the sleepy vacation town of Stone Lake. His mother says, “If you didn’t have bad luck, you’d have no luck at all.”
Jon’s luck changes when he befriends Morgan, a rich girl trying to find herself at her family’s lakefront mansion. Despite their attraction, her engagement, and the ire of her family, the pair embarks on a platonic friendship. They challenge and support each other to right wrongs and to stand up to the hypocrisy of those around them. As their relationship strengthens, they unearth deeper, more painful truths: the kind of truths meant to be kept secret, the kind of truths that are toxic if excavated. They bare their souls, but Morgan holds her most important secret tight to her chest, where it beats like a ticking time bomb.
It’s not a matter of if, but when, Jon’s luck runs out.
